Redefining Change: The Power of Experience and Community Impact
How often do our life experiences become the driving force for change in others? For Cassetta “Chrissy” Scott, this has been the foundation of her journey. Through resilience, motivation, and an unyielding drive, Chrissy has transformed her challenges into a powerful force for change in her community.
As a mother of three, she faced the tides and currents of life while striving for success. With the support of her family and a determined mindset, she overcame obstacles that many struggle against. Through perseverance, she not only changed her economic and financial standing but also achieved her goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist with State and National Certifications.
Now, Chrissy is committed to ensuring others have the same opportunities for success that she once fought for. Fast forward to 2024, and as the CEO/Founder of Chrissy’s Place of Refuge, she recognizes that many families are once again facing economic hardship. She understands the urgent need for solutions that serve underserved families and middle-to-high income families seeking financial relief.
In September 2021, Chrissy’s Place of Refuge was granted 501(c)(3) Federal Exempt status, marking the beginning of a mission-driven movement. Since then, Chrissy and her Board have worked diligently to implement impactful programs that uplift, educate, and support the community.
Our Mission: Raising Capital for Sustainable Change
Our current major initiative is focused on raising capital to centralize resources that empower families seeking transformation. With community support and global contributions, we aim to become a catalyst for lasting change.
We are actively seeking sponsors and donors to help us consolidate the essential resources available in North Carolina, coupled with financial education, to make economic freedom accessible and attainable for all. You can trust that Cassetta “Chrissy” Scott will apply the same principles that led to her success, creating an environment of structure, support, and financial relief that families need.

Two Major Components of Chrissy's Place of Refuge!
- Empowering Low-Income Families: Assisting individuals and families in transitioning off government assistance by fostering self-sufficiency through housing support, financial literacy, mental health counseling, child care, and career development (including degree programs and job training).
- Providing Financial Relief for Middle-to-High Income Families: Reducing the strain on government assistance programs by helping individuals achieve financial independence. Graduates of our program will transition from beneficiaries to tax-paying citizens, contributing to economic growth rather than relying on public aid.
